The town of Lloret de Mar (Catalonia-Spain) will host the world travel blogger conference in Europe, the TBEX EU 2015, which from 29th April to 3rd May will bring together some 800 travel bloggers, online media writers and content creators, turning Catalonia and Spain into the travel and tourism blogging epicentre of the world.
The announcement of the Costa Brava as host of the TBEX EU 2015 conference was made on Saturday 25th October at this year’s conference, held in Athens (Greece) from 23rd to 25th October, which was attended by a delegation from Lloret de Mar and the Costa Brava Tourist Board.
The quality of conference infrastructures in Lloret de Mar, its experience in the MICE sector, the tourism offering of the coastal town and of the destination as a whole, along with its proximity to Barcelona, were decisive factors for the conference organisers in choosing the Costa Brava as conference host following their inspection trip to the area, organised by the Costa Brava Girona Tourist Board of Girona Provincial Council. Another key factor in the decision was the successful organisation of the TBEX Europe conference in the city of Girona in 2012.
The 2015 TBEX Europe Costa Brava conference will be held in the Olympic Conference Centre of Lloret de Mar with the coordination of the Lloret Convention Bureau. For two days, participants will attend expert talks and share their knowledge and experiences. The conference organisers aim to mobilise bloggers and assist them in the promotion of their activities and the improvement of their work. They will also be helping public relations companies and tourism industry professionals make contact with content creators and obtain benefits for their brands and destinations, especially Catalonia.
Prior to and following the conference, the Tourist Board, with the collaboration and participation of local tourism organisations and companies, will offer complementary activity programmes (excursions, theme-based blogtrips and networking sessions) for participating bloggers with the goal of enabling them to discover the Costa Brava and Pirineu de Girona destination, along with other destinations in Catalonia, such as Barcelona, helping to maintain its international profile on social networks.
In 2012, the Costa Brava Girona Tourist Board, with the collaboration of the local public and private tourism sector, organised the first TBEX Europe conference in the city of Girona, attended by 350 bloggers, which generated an impact in social networks of 147 million impressions, reaching 28 million people in 63 countries.
